Doni – 7.0: The Brazilian keeper didn’t have all that much to do tonight; however he did what he had to do with minimal fuss. His highlight came after 70 minutes when he denied Amoruso’s header with a fantastic diving save.
Cicinho – 6.5: The winger was injured and forced to withdraw in the second half, although prior to that he worked extremely well on the right with Motta.
Juan – 6.5: The central defender was as solid as always in this match, however unfortunately for his sake he was forced to withdraw because of injury at the break.
Mexes – 8.5: The Frenchman was the most dominant player on the park tonight, as he made light work of some promising Siena attacking movements. He proved his leadership, quality and value to this Roman squad once again, which included a goal saving challenge on 71 minutes to deny Maccarone a one on one with Doni.
Riise – 6.5: The former Liverpool man was good, but not great, as he failed to get forward as often as he would have liked to. He failed to put a foot wrong tonight, and thus can’t be criticized for his performance.
Pizarro – 7.5: A hard working performance by the midfielder, and he proved to be a great provider for his attackers throughout, with his exceptional delivery from the dead ball situations.
Brighi – 7.0: Worked extremely well alongside Pizarro, and helped to anchor the midfield this evening. In the absence of Perrotta and De Rossi in particular, his performance was always going to be crucial, and he was successful in leading from the front tonight.
Motta – 7.0: The former Udinese man played in a slightly more attacking role for the first time in Roman colours, and he certainly adjusted well. He seems to be settling in to life in the Italian capital, and looks to have a bright future ahead.
Baptista – 7.5: The physicality of the ‘Beast’ was always going to be tough for the Siena defenders to contend with, and that was exactly the case tonight. The Brazilian managed to have a number of opportunities throughout, including one to open the scoring on 28 minutes with a free header from close range.
Taddei – 8.0: The Brazilian winger was not at his absolute best, however he did manage to score one of his greatest goals in the Giallorossi colours. He proved that he still is a vital component of Spalletti’s squad tonight, with another inspiring display.
Totti – 6.5: ‘Il Capitano’ was arguably his side’s least influential performer on the night; however his work rate and general presence cannot be questioned. The number 10 gave his all, for little reward, and still managed to attract a standing ovation from the crowd after he was replaced by Montella in the final ten minutes of play.

Siena
Curci – 8.0: An outstanding performance by the former Roma keeper in this match, as he single handedly kept his side in it with a number of stunning saves. He brilliantly denied Baptista on 26 and 28 minutes in the first half, and there was nothing he could do to prevent the goal. His world class save to deny Montella after 85 minutes gave his side one last chance in the closing stages.
Zuniga – 5.0: The right back offered little in attack, and didn’t do anything worth noting throughout.
Portanova – 5.0: An inconsistent performance from the captain tonight, especially on 48 minutes when he allowed Totti to turn in the area, and work himself into a goal scoring position.
Brandao – 5.5: The pick of the Siena back four, Brandao looked the most calm and confident when under pressure. Having said this though, he did struggle a little against the physicality of Baptista in particular.
Del Grosso – 5.0: Similar to Zuniga, the left back failed to get forward at all tonight, and had minimal impact at either ends of the park.
Jarolim – 4.5: Reckless, clumsy and simply outclassed in the midfield. He should have been sent off on 39 minutes for a terrible challenge on behind on Pizarro, but for some reason he wasn’t, and undeservedly played the 90 minutes.
Codrea – 6.0: Arguably his side’s best performer on the night, the midfielder was fairly dangerous from the dead ball situations throughout. In addition to this, he saved the day on 48 minutes when he denied Totti the chance to score with a goal saving challenge from behind.
Galloppa – 5.5: Worked hard all match, but failed to impose himself as well as he would have liked to.
Kharja – 5.5: Provided good support to Frick and Maccarone in particular, however his creativity and ability to bring his other team mates in to the match was the thing lacking for him.
Frick – 5.0: The attacker was surprisingly handed a start ahead of Ghezzal, however he did not make the most of his opportunity, as his stay lasted just 59 minutes, when he was eventually replaced with the man previously mentioned.
Maccarone – 5.5: His form slump in front of goals continued tonight, however to his credit he fought hard and never lost hope, even though his side failed to create many clear cut opportunities throughout.
