22 Feb 2009 Siena Coach Marco Giampaolo: We Controlled Roma

Siena coach Marco Giampaolo was leading his team to an important and precious goalless draw against Roma, before his plans were foiled in the second half.

The Bianconeri are the team with the worst track record in Serie A and this defeat did not help them much in their bid to steer clear of the relegation zone.

“There is a lot of disappointment with [Rodrigo] Taddei’s winning goal considering we controlled Roma very well,” explained the Tuscan side’s trainer.

“There were all the signs for us to obtain a positive result, including Roma's upcoming commitment in the Champions League.

“However, Taddei’s move blew up the balance. I can only feel disappointed because we had little conviction in trying to cause them problems. Only after going behind did we try.”

Following this defeat Siena remain stuck in 13th place with 27 points from 24 games, but risk slipping down the standings following this afternoon’s round of matches.
